Integrated Geophysical Investigation of River Ogun Floodplain, Papalanto, Southwestern Nigeria

A geophysical investigation that involves the integration of Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES), Resistivity Imaging (ERI), and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) methods was conducted on Papalanto, Ogun River floodplain, a location underlain by sedimentary terrain Southwestern Nigeria. This research aimed to image underground lithological units delineate shallow geologic structures in order characterize area for agricultural suitability throughout dry season. VES results typically outlined three layers which are topsoil, saturated loamy clay, alluvium. From 2D inverted resistivity results, major layers, namely alluvium, were very good agreement with attained through VES. The first 3D sections display great amount variation distribution at superficial depth, made up low resistive content. GPR survey, also from Consequently, study can be said semi-competent competent luxuriant farming land consideration floodplain subsurface. Therefore, VES, ERI, effective describing classifying subsurface reference measured physical properties.
